Memorial Day

We had a good weekend. We spent Sunday afternoon at the family farm and Ethan had a great time exploring! Monday we went to the parade in the town near by - half the town was in the parade and the other half was watching it!!

Ethan's Birthday

Yesterday we celebrated Ethan's 3rd birthday. We had a great time. He finally got his back hoe cake. He has been talking about it ever since his last birthday.

We told him to hold it up to his chin to see how it looks, and this is what he did:)

wood stove 101

Today it is me and the chickens, a goat and the lonely cow. Oh, I am learning how to use the wood stove too. If I don't, well, it will get chilly. I COULD turn on the thermostat, but where is the fun in that?? So far the fire has not gone out and I have not filled the house with smoke or set off the smoke alarm.

The cow IS lonely. He stands at the fence nearest the house and just looks, or occasionally bellows. Poor cow. His two comrades went to the butchers on Tuesday. They will return in lots and lots of white packages some time next week. The lonely cow has no clue he has been spared, he does not understand.

Accepted

The offer we put in on "our" house has been officially accepted!! We are very excited. This house is the same one I posted about earlier. At this point our closing date will be the end of July, unless the owners find a new house sooner, than the closing will be moved up. We are praying they find a house very, very soon:) They will be doing the building inspection today, so the process is moving right along. Now for some pictures:

boys

Ethan with a baby chick.

This was the other day before dinner. The play together pretty well.

Ethan with the flowers he picked in front of the house by the road. He gave us a scare until we found him. He calmly presented these to Grandma when she came around the corner in search of him.

New House

We found a house! Yeah! Last Saturday we found a house that just felt like home. It is an old, farm house style home located in a small town. It has a nice sized yard that backs up to a wooded area, so even though it is in town, it feels very open and country-ish. Everything about it is in good shape. It sits on the side of a hill so we will be able to look out over the valley and enjoy the sunrise from the kitchen.

We put an offer in on Monday and the owners verbally accepted the offer yesterday. It will be official in a couple of days when they sign all of the papers. Our closing date and occupancy will depend on the owners finding their new home. I am suddenly very interested in their house search:)
This house has some great perks. First of all, the present owner is quite the gardener so there are all sorts of lovely plants and flower gardens that are already there and thriving (blueberry bushes, raspberries, strawberries, herbs, rhubarb, etc.). The house itself has an enclosed porch that has screens for summer and windows for fall and spring. The windows in most of the house are the old floor to ceiling kind that add a lot of class and light to the house. The living and dining rooms have hard wood floors and the kitchen lends itself to a retro style. The basement is superb and very usable for a 100+ year old house. All in all, we love it and we are very thankful to have found it in our price range!

Happy Mother's Day!

May your feet smile at you!

country living

We are enjoying living in the country. The boys have a great time playing outside. It is lovely to be on a farm and surrounded by woods.
Hans ready for a walk.

Jeremiah's Grandma Miller planted multiple varieties of daffodils and they are lovely!

Ethan in his new fireman boots. He went to the feed store with Grandpa and came back with a few extras and a story about candy in a birdbath. Hmmmm;)

Ethan's party

While we were at Mom and Dad's house two weeks ago they had a party to celebrate Ethan's third birthday (May 21st). My cousin and her children came to help us celebrate.
